Ruth Langsford, the beloved daytime TV personality, has candidly shared her thoughts on aging, body image, and cosmetic procedures in a revealing interview. The 65-year-old TV presenter, who will celebrate her birthday in March, expressed a refreshingly honest perspective on the challenges of growing older.
Langsford, known for her down-to-earth personality, admitted that while society often encourages women over 50 to embrace their aging bodies with confidence, she doesn’t always feel that way herself. She emphasized that it’s okay to feel conflicted about changes in appearance and body, something many women, including herself, often experience.
“I know I’m supposed to be empowered, look in the mirror and love my 65-year-old body. Well, I don’t always, and actually, I don’t think many women do,” Langsford revealed. She reflected on how she and her friends sometimes bond over shared frustrations about their changing bodies, but ultimately, they support each other to move forward with gratitude for their lives.
The TV host also reflected on her upbringing and the values instilled by her mother and grandmother, who taught her to appreciate her body for its functionality rather than its appearance. This mindset, she suggested, could be one reason she has avoided cosmetic procedures thus far. However, Langsford did acknowledge the possibility of considering tweaks in the future.
“Every time I see myself on camera, I think, ‘I’d like to get my neck done.’ It’s all I see. Something about your neck suddenly goes, and it’s really aging. I’m not saying that I’ll never have a neck lift or a chin lift because, who knows? By the time I’m 68, I might not be able to stand it anymore,” she said, adding a touch of humor to the conversation about potential future treatments.
Currently, Langsford is feeling more energized and healthier, following a recent weight loss. She attributes part of this transformation to her recent divorce from Eamonn Holmes, as well as a hormone check and rebalance that helped address menopause-related weight gain. While reflecting on her health journey, she remained hopeful that the weight loss might also signal the end of her menopause symptoms.
Langsford’s openness and humility about aging resonate with many women, offering a relatable take on the struggles and joys that come with getting older.
