Actor Koo Bon-seung has made a remarkable recovery in his appearance after undergoing a procedure to resolve the side effects of filler injections. The actor had previously experienced eyelid drooping, which severely affected his vision, a result of an excessive filler procedure.
In a recent broadcast on KBS JOY and KBS 2TV’s Seeking Old Encounters (also known as Omanchu) on March 9th, the cast members gathered for their first group meeting, including Hwang Dong-joo, Lee Young-ja, Koo Bon-seung, Kim Sook, Lee Jae-hwang, Jang Seo-hee, Ji Sang-ryeol, and Woo Hee-jin. During the session, the conversation turned to the physical changes of the cast members.
Kim Sook noticed Koo Bon-seung’s transformation and asked, “Has our Bon-seung changed at all?” to which Woo Hee-jin quickly responded, “His face has become younger.” Kim Sook then commented, “See that? Oppa has changed completely,” while Lee Young-ja humorously added, “He finally has eyes,” prompting laughter from the group.
Koo Bon-seung had previously opened up about the difficulties caused by filler side effects. On a broadcast earlier this month, he and Kim Sook were seen on a date at a plastic surgery clinic, where Kim Sook encouraged him to consider a solution to his concerns. During their conversation, Kim Sook also delicately inquired about why Koo Bon-seung had chosen her during the final selection, offering comfort when he expressed relief at receiving a clear answer.
Kim Sook also mentioned the ongoing buzz surrounding the show, revealing that fans had created a “Bon-sook” couple nickname for her and Koo Bon-seung. She further teased, “There are so many Bon-sook couples, and people often ask, ‘Did oppa come after boxing?'”
As the discussion continued, Kim Sook raised the issue of Koo Bon-seung’s drooping eyelids, which had once been part of his charm. She asked, “Wasn’t oppa’s drooping eyes his charm?” Koo Bon-seung confirmed, saying, “It was originally like that.” Kim Sook gently probed, “Did you hear the comments about your eyes, oppa?” to which Koo Bon-seung admitted that he had, and Kim Sook expressed her regret that people had focused on it so much.
Koo Bon-seung explained that the drooping effect was more visible on camera, with Kim Sook empathizing, noting, “My eyes are drooping as I age too. When you’re younger, recovery is quicker. We have to take care of ourselves.”
The conversation led to a date at the plastic surgery clinic, where Koo Bon-seung revealed the cause of his condition. “I had fillers here,” he disclosed, pointing to his eyelids, and explained that the drooping was a result of the side effects of an excessive filler treatment he received in May of the previous year. The doctor confirmed that the fillers were likely responsible for the severe eyelid drooping.
Kim Sook humorously remarked, “I thought oppa had gotten fillers from someone else,” but Koo Bon-seung clarified, saying, “I had it done in May last year, and it was too much.” After strong persuasion from Kim Sook, Koo Bon-seung underwent a procedure to dissolve the excess fillers, leaving him with a noticeably refreshed appearance. Kim Sook was astounded by the transformation, exclaiming, “Oppa’s eyes have become so clear!”
