Leanne Campbell, beloved radio host and former co-presenter of Hits Radio, has shared a hilarious and candid story about a cosmetic procedure gone wrong. After over a decade of hosting her popular radio show, which was the last remaining program with a direct Merseyside connection on the station, Leanne bid farewell to the airwaves and moved on to new ventures. But it was during a recent episode of her podcast, Ladies Of Liverpool, where she reflected on an unforgettable moment that fans found both relatable and amusing.
Leanne, who has had a long-standing presence in the radio world, opened up to her former Radio City co-star, Dave Kelly, about a mishap that occurred during a fibroblast face lift procedure she had a few years ago. Fibroblast therapy, or plasma fibroblast therapy, is designed to tighten and lift the skin using a small electrical charge, but unfortunately for Leanne, things didn’t go as planned.
In a funny but somewhat painful twist, Leanne ended up with badly burned skin around her eyes, leaving her looking a little less than glamorous. As she shared with listeners, Dave Kelly had called her to share some exciting news, but she was unable to answer the FaceTime call without first hiding her face with glasses to cover the burns.
“I had two swollen big eyes, and I looked like a wrestler,” Leanne recalled, laughing. “I couldn’t cry because it hurt my blisters!” Despite the discomfort, she added humorously, “I was like, ‘I can’t let you look at me!’”
However, once the call finally went through, Dave surprised Leanne with some life-changing news—he was going to be a father! Leanne couldn’t help but laugh at the irony of her situation. “He tells me they’re pregnant, and I’m sitting there with burnt eyes!” she joked.
Despite the mishap, Leanne reflected positively on the experience. “It was the most amazing moment!” she said, showing that even in the midst of discomfort, the joy of her friend’s news was enough to turn the situation around.
Leanne’s openness about the botched procedure left fans in stitches, and many took to social media to comment on the heartwarming reunion between the two radio personalities. One fan expressed, “God I bloody miss you two,” while another wrote, “I loved you two; best there was.” It’s clear that Leanne’s presence on the radio was cherished by many, and her fans are still fondly remembering the magic she brought to the airwaves.
Despite the end of her radio career, Leanne remains optimistic and has a bright future ahead. After her last Hits Radio breakfast show aired, parent company Bauer Media announced a major shake-up, removing regional and local breakfast shows across its English and Welsh stations. However, Leanne’s resilience has been inspiring. She has since landed a new role as the Fairy Godmother in the Epstein Theatre’s pantomime this Christmas.
This role marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Leanne. She’ll be joining Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn, who is set to play Cinderella, at the iconic Hanover Street venue in Liverpool. Leanne’s new role as the magical Fairy Godmother will surely bring joy to audiences and mark a fitting new chapter in her career.
As her fans eagerly await her new venture, it’s clear that Leanne Campbell’s infectious personality and warmth will continue to shine—both on stage and off.
