Next week, the Health Care Association for Affected Communities will launch two free ophthalmology and eye surgery camps in Baydha City and Rada’a District, Baydha Governorate. The camps are organized in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Environment and are funded by the General Authority for Zakat.
The two camps will run for six days each and will be held in cooperation with the health offices of the governorate, as well as al-Thawra Hospital in Baydha and Rada’a General Hospital. They will offer free eye examinations and surgeries, including treatments for cataracts, pterygium removal, and sebaceous cysts on the eyelids.
Hassan Tamah, head of the health committee at the Zakat Authority, told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the camps aim to assist the needy, meet their health care needs, and promote social solidarity and charity for the most vulnerable groups in society.
Dr. Nashwan Al-Attab, president of the Health Care Association, explained that during the first two days of the camp, which will be held at Al-Thawra Hospital in Baydha from May 17 to 22, patients will undergo screenings and examinations. Cases requiring surgical intervention will be identified, and pre-operative tests will be conducted.
The same process will take place at the second camp, which will be held at Rada’a General Hospital from May 19 to 24.
Dr. Al-Attab expressed gratitude for the support and funding provided by the General Authority for Zakat, which has made these camps possible. He emphasized that the camps are part of a broader effort to alleviate the suffering of citizens in light of the difficult circumstances facing the country.
The two camps are part of a series of solidarity projects organized by the association, reflecting the values of mercy in Islam and a commitment to caring for the poor and promoting charitable acts.
