However, one user, Alejandra Salomon, has a different experience and is thrilled with the way her face looks after shedding 60 pounds.
Salomon, who used Semaglutide, the compound version of Ozempic, to slim down for her sister’s wedding, feels her weight loss has made her look significantly younger. Despite warnings from experts that weight loss drugs like Ozempic can make the face look older due to sunken cheeks, gaunt eyes, and sagging skin, Salomon claims her transformation has had the opposite effect.
“My weight loss made me look 10 years younger—no Botox needed,” Salomon, in her late twenties, told NeedToKnow. She shared that her face now looks more defined, and it feels as though she got “jawline filler,” even though her transformation was achieved through weight loss alone. “I lost 60 pounds and got in the best shape of my life,” she added.
While others experiencing “Ozempic face” may struggle with aged features, Salomon is happy with how her face appears, believing her once-round face was a sign of inflammation. She credits the drug for her healthier and more confident self.
Salomon’s journey with Semaglutide began after her parents encouraged her to lose 20 pounds for her sister’s wedding. She notes that the decision has had a lasting positive impact on both her health and confidence.
“It has without a doubt been the best decision for both my health and confidence,” Salomon said. Despite the benefits, she acknowledges that using Semaglutide wasn’t a quick fix. “It is not an easy solution and is not a magic trick,” she explained. To support her weight loss, Salomon also focused on eating more protein and changing up her workouts.
Now off the medication, Salomon continues to maintain her weight and is committed to keeping up her healthy lifestyle. “I am no longer on medication, and am maintaining my weight!”
Ozempic Teeth: A Hidden Side Effect
While Salomon’s experience with Ozempic has been positive, other users have reported concerning side effects, including dental issues linked to the drug. Known as “Ozempic teeth,” these problems include dry mouth, bad breath, and gum disease.
Dr. Michele Green, a dermatologist, explained that Ozempic might reduce saliva production, which is crucial for protecting teeth. “Saliva helps remove food particles, neutralizes acids produced by bacteria, and provides essential minerals that strengthen tooth enamel,” she said. This reduction in saliva can lead to serious dental issues over time.
