Lumenis Be. Ltd., a global leader in energy-based medical devices for aesthetic and eye care, has received top recognition at the 2025 MedTech Breakthrough Awards. Its product, FoLix™, was named the “Best New Dermatology Technology Solution” by MedTech Breakthrough, an independent organization that highlights innovation in digital health and medical technology worldwide.
FoLix stood out to the award judges for its scientific design, focus on patient comfort, and strong clinical results. It is the first and only FDA-cleared non-ablative fractional laser system developed specifically to stimulate hair follicles. Unlike traditional hair loss treatments that use chemicals, topical products, or invasive methods, FoLix uses targeted laser pulses to promote natural hair growth.
The technology works by encouraging blood flow and regenerating tissue around the hair follicles. Patients can typically see results after four to six monthly treatments, with little to no discomfort and no downtime. According to MedTech Breakthrough, FoLix offers a much-needed, non-invasive alternative for people seeking effective hair restoration.
“Hair loss affects most men and nearly half of all women, often impacting confidence and self-esteem,” said Steve Johansson, Managing Director at MedTech Breakthrough. “Many existing treatments are uncomfortable or come with long-term side effects. FoLix uses proven fractional laser technology in a new way—safely and effectively helping those struggling with hair loss. We congratulate Lumenis on this well-deserved recognition.”
FoLix features proprietary technology that sets it apart from other systems. It delivers uniform laser energy to the treatment area using Lumenis’ patent-pending FoliCool™ tip, combined with an intuitive user interface that makes treatments safer and more efficient. The device’s fractional laser approach—widely known for its skin rejuvenation benefits—is now being applied to hair follicle stimulation for the first time.
“Hair is deeply tied to how people feel about themselves, and many still struggle to find the right treatment,” said Tzipi Ozer-Armon, CEO of Lumenis. “FoLix is a major step forward. It’s the only FDA-cleared fractional laser for treating hair loss, and it’s designed to fit into real-life routines. We are honored to be recognized by MedTech Breakthrough and remain committed to developing technologies that improve lives.”
