Jamie Lee Curtis has shared her regret over undergoing cosmetic surgery after receiving harsh criticism about her appearance.
The 66-year-old Halloween star revealed that when she was in her 20s, a cinematographer on the set of her 1985 film Perfect criticized her looks, saying her eyes appeared “baggy.” This comment deeply embarrassed her and led to her decision to undergo surgery.
Speaking on CBS’s 60 Minutes, Curtis recalled the moment, saying: “(The cinematographer) was like: ‘Yeah, I’m not shooting her today. Her eyes are baggy.’ And I was 25. For him to say that was very embarrassing. So, as soon as the movie finished, I ended up having some plastic surgery.”
When asked how the surgery turned out, the Oscar-winning actress admitted: “Not well. That’s just not what you want to do when you’re 25 or 26. I regretted it immediately and have kind of regretted it since.”
Now, as an advocate for self-acceptance, Curtis encourages women to embrace their natural beauty. “You’re gorgeous and you’re perfect the way you are,” she says, emphasizing that the decision to undergo surgery was not the right one for her.
