Actor Saiyami Kher has opened up about the pressure many in the entertainment industry face to undergo cosmetic surgery. In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, she revealed that she was once advised to get lip fillers and a nose job—but chose not to.
When asked about the beauty standards in the film industry, Kher said the pressure is not just on actresses, but on actors as well. “If someone is not happy with the way they look and wants to change something, they should do it if it helps them feel better,” she said. “But you can’t let the world’s opinions affect you too much—that’s how I see it.”
Kher shared that people had suggested she get her lips and nose altered to fit a certain beauty ideal. However, she firmly refused. “I like my lips the way they are—I have no problem with them,” she said. “This is what makes me unique.”
She emphasized that authenticity matters more than fitting into a standard mold. “Otherwise, everyone ends up looking like factory-made products,” she added. “We should be building a culture that doesn’t feed insecurity. What matters most is whether an actor’s performance connects with the audience—not the size of their lips.”
Kher’s comments come amid ongoing debates about cosmetic surgery in Bollywood. Actors like Khushi Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, and Shruti Haasan have been open about their procedures and still face criticism, reflecting the ongoing stigma around appearance-related choices.
