Actress Saiyami Kher has spoken out about the growing pressure on actors—especially women—to change their looks in the film industry. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, she shared her personal views on cosmetic surgery, self-acceptance, and the harsh reality of social media criticism.
Kher revealed that people have told her she should get a lip job and a nose job to meet certain beauty standards. However, she firmly rejected the idea. “I’m okay with the way I look. I like my lips. They’re unique to me,” she said.
She added that this pressure isn’t limited to women. “Both male and female actors face it,” she explained. “If someone isn’t happy with how they look and wants to make a change, that’s their choice. But you shouldn’t let the world’s opinions affect you so much.”
The Ghoomer actress stressed the importance of staying true to oneself. “Everyone ends up looking like factory-made products if we all try to look the same,” she said. For her, what truly matters is an actor’s performance, not their physical appearance. “You should be judged by your work, not by your lips or nose.”
Saiyami also addressed the toxic environment on social media, where actors who undergo cosmetic procedures often face brutal trolling. “I would never do it. I’m secure in who I am. I like to keep everything natural—even avoid taking medicine unless absolutely necessary,” she said. “But if someone feels more confident after a procedure, that’s their choice. I’m not here to judge.”
She criticized the trend of constant judgment online, saying social media has made it easy for people to post mean and unfair comments. “It’s become normal to attack people. Most of the time, those who are judging are not in a position to do so. It’s unfair and insensitive.”
Despite the negativity, Kher praised fellow actress Ananya Panday for using her platform to spread positivity. She hopes more influencers will do the same. “We need more uplifting voices. Social media should be a space for support and positive change.”
