Supermodel Bella Hadid, 28, recently addressed long-standing rumors about cosmetic surgery in a candid conversation with British Vogue. In a video shared on social media on Tuesday, May 13, Hadid walked fans through her makeup routine and explained how she achieves her well-known “fox eye” look—without surgery.
“People think I’ve gotten a facelift or that cat-eye thing, whatever it’s called,” she said in the clip, referring to the trending “fox eye” procedure that gives a lifted, almond-shaped look. “But I’m going to teach you an easier way.”
Without using hair gel, Hadid grabbed her Orebella perfume, sprayed it into her brunette hair, and slicked it back into a tight updo. The result was an instantly lifted appearance. “That was like 60 seconds of a snatcheroo,” she joked.
Hadid has previously spoken about getting a nose job at age 14. In this latest interview, she described her everyday makeup style as “natural” and revealed that when she wears heavier makeup, she steps into an alter ego she calls Belinda.
“[Belinda] slays for me during the day, but when I get home I’m Bella again,” she said. The model added that Belinda is a version of herself who can keep going even when she’s not feeling her best. “She can be crying from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., but by the time she gets to work, a smile is on her face,” Hadid explained. “That’s Belinda for me.”
Hadid shared that she used this persona as a form of emotional protection during difficult times. “I feel emotional talking about her,” she admitted. “She was a mask for me for a very long time.”
At home, Hadid said she often feels drained. “I’m a skeleton,” she said honestly.
She also revealed that behind glamorous photo shoots, she was sometimes suffering. “I can look at pictures from magazine covers or jewelry campaigns and remember exactly how I felt. I knew which day I cried, which day I was in pain,” she said. She recalled apologizing to a colleague for a shoot in Italy, only to be told it was one of her best performances. “Little did she know I was crying behind the set after every shot,” Hadid said. “But I guess I covered up well enough.”
Reflecting on her earlier decision to undergo rhinoplasty, Hadid admitted she has regrets. She often wonders how she would have grown into her “ancestral nose,” suggesting a deeper connection to her heritage and identity.
