Filipino brand Happy Skin has officially ventured into the hair care market with the launch of its first-ever hair care line, Happy SkiiHair. Known for revolutionizing the local beauty scene with skin-caring makeup, Happy Skin now extends its skincare ethos to hair care, aiming to address common hair concerns of Filipinas.
What is Happy Skin Hair?
Happy Skin Hair marks a significant milestone for the brand, which has long been beloved for its commitment to skincare-infused makeup. This new hair care line continues that tradition, focusing on scalp care and tackling hair concerns from the inside out. During the launch event on January 15 at the KaSop Studio in Podium, CEO Jacqe Gutierrez emphasized the importance of caring for the scalp as an essential part of overall skin health. “If you care for your face and skin, you should care for your scalp too,” she remarked.
Happy Skin Hair incorporates four powerhouse ingredients: Niacinamide, Amino Acids, Tetrapeptide, and Hydrolyzed Soy Protein. These ingredients are specifically chosen for their ability to improve scalp health and enhance hair quality. The line also features premium fragrances, offering a luxurious scent experience with top, middle, and base notes.
Who is Happy Skin Hair For?
Happy Skin Hair is specifically formulated for Filipinas, designed with their unique hair and environmental needs in mind. Created in Japan, a leader in hair care innovation, the line combines Japanese expertise with components suited for Filipina hair and local weather conditions. Notably, the products are sulfate-free and color-safe, making them suitable for Filipinas who dye their hair.
The Variants of Happy Skin Hair
The line offers two variants, each designed to address specific hair needs: Soft & Straight and Volume & Bouncy.
Soft & Straight (pink bottle) is formulated to combat frizz and repair damage with Hydrolyzed Elastin.
Volume & Bouncy (blue bottle) targets fine, flat hair, revitalizing it with Biotin Peptides for added volume.
Expert hairstylist Suyen Salazar, who attended the launch, shared that the two variants can be used interchangeably for optimal results. Cosmo tested the Soft & Straight variant and immediately noticed smoother, lighter hair with a refreshing fragrance.
Both variants come with unique scent profiles. The Soft & Straight variant features top notes of Citrus and Basil, with a mid note of Lily and a base note of Oakmoss. Meanwhile, the Volume & Bouncy variant has top notes of Bergamot, mid notes of Jasmine, and a base note of Cedarwood.
Pricing and Availability
Happy Skin Hair products are priced at PHP 799 per bottle. For those interested in purchasing a bundle, the shampoo and conditioner treatment set is available for PHP 1,999, including a tote bag in magenta or blue. If you prefer just the two products without the tote, the bundle costs PHP 1,499. The products became available both in-store and online starting January 17.
In an exclusive interview, CEO Jacqe Gutierrez explained that the pricing was set to be accessible to both loyal Happy Skin fans and new customers. “I want to elevate the local hair care category, and if we price the products too high, we risk alienating a lot of people. I want people to feel that it’s worth a try,” she said. She further emphasized that spending on hair care should be as important as investing in skincare and makeup.
Gutierrez expressed satisfaction with the pricing, describing it as a fair compromise for both Happy Skin users and those who typically use standard hair care products. “The ingredients and fragrances justify the PHP 799 price per bottle,” she concluded.
Happy Skin Hair is now available for purchase, offering an innovative blend of scalp care and luxurious fragrance in every bottle.
