To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Teejay Lanka PLC has donated a modern eye surgical bed to the Avissawella District General Hospital. The equipment, worth Rs. 1.2 million, was funded by both the company and its executive staff. This joint effort shows their strong commitment to improving public healthcare in Sri Lanka.
In a statement, the company said the donation meets a critical need at the hospital. For years, the hospital faced difficulties due to a lack of proper surgical equipment. Without a modern eye surgical bed, doctors could not perform eye operations efficiently. This led to long delays and a growing number of patients waiting for treatment.
Dr. Sampath Perera, the hospital’s Administrative Director, and Dr. Thusitha Gunasekara, the Consultant Eye Surgeon, thanked Teejay Lanka for the generous support. They said the new equipment will greatly improve the hospital’s ability to offer timely and high-quality eye surgeries.
