Reality TV star Skye Wheatley has drawn attention from fans after appearing at a high-profile event on the Gold Coast, prompting renewed concern over her appearance following a series of cosmetic procedures.
The 31-year-old Big Brother alum attended the launch of Bouf Haircare at Sueno Rooftop restaurant on Thursday. She was joined by fellow influencers including Indy Clinton, Costeen Hatzi, Em Davies, Lily Brown, and Ruby Tuesday Matthews.
Wheatley turned heads in an eye-catching animal print maxi dress with a low-cut neckline, high-leg slit, and flowing skirt. She completed her outfit with strappy heels, a taupe blazer, and a $7,000 Dior saddle bag.
However, it wasn’t the fashion that had people talking. Fans quickly took to social media to comment on Wheatley’s appearance, particularly her fox eye lift surgery performed in Turkey last year.
“Skye Wheatley is totally unrecognisable now,” one user commented. Another added, “She looks dehydrated there… her face looks like she’s aged 10 years.” One simply wrote, “Just sad.”
Wheatley has been open about her history with cosmetic surgery. In October, she traveled to Turkey for multiple procedures, including a fox eye lift, liposuction, a temporal lift (fat transfer to the face), and a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).
The fox eye look, once achieved through makeup techniques, has become popular through surgery in recent years. Wheatley revealed that her recovery was difficult. “Being in a foreign hospital with no eyesight was pretty unsettling,” she said, noting she couldn’t open her eyes for three days post-surgery.
Despite the risks and recovery, Wheatley has defended her decisions. Responding to questions on social media, she explained her reasons for undergoing liposuction: “It doesn’t matter how fit you are, you’re always going to have stubborn areas of fat,” she said, adding that while she trains daily, her diet isn’t always healthy due to a sweet tooth.
Wheatley also addressed criticism that she might be addicted to plastic surgery. One follower accused her of contributing to young women’s self-esteem issues. In response, she said, “Everyone is going to have self-esteem issues. I see beauty in others, but it’s different when you look at yourself.”
She stressed the importance of being honest about enhancements: “I don’t want girls who aren’t enhanced to feel like they’re not ‘good enough.’ The damaging thing is getting all these enhancements and saying nothing about it. I won’t be one of those people.”
Over the years, Wheatley has had multiple procedures including surgeries on her nose, breasts (twice), arms, inner thighs, and face.
Despite the backlash, she maintains that her transparency is part of her message: “Everyone is beautiful with or without surgery.”
