Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai has introduced South Asia’s first and fastest Genius AI 3D Mammography system, marking a major milestone in breast cancer screening. This advanced imaging technology, powered by artificial intelligence, delivers faster, more accurate diagnoses while improving patient comfort.
The system uses tomosynthesis, a 3D imaging method that completes a scan in just 3.7 seconds—making it the fastest mammography system in the industry. Its speed reduces discomfort for patients and leads to quicker, more precise detection of breast cancer.
Meeting a Growing Health Challenge
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in India, accounting for over 26% of all female cancers. More than 192,000 women are diagnosed each year, many at advanced stages due to late detection or limited access to screening. The Genius AI 3D Mammography system is designed to address this challenge by improving early and accurate diagnosis.
Key benefits of the new system include:
- 20–65% higher detection rates for invasive breast cancers compared to standard 2D mammography
- 45% lower radiation exposure using synthesized 2D imaging
- High-resolution 3D images powered by advanced AI
- Fewer repeat visits and faster results, enhancing patient experience and system efficiency
Focused on Comfort and Inclusivity
Designed with patient comfort in mind, the system is particularly beneficial for women with dense breast tissue, breast implants, or claustrophobia. It reduces compression time while maintaining high-quality images. It also supports contrast-enhanced spectral mammography and vacuum-assisted biopsy, helping reduce the need for repeat procedures.
“This mammography system is a transformative step in detecting breast cancer at very early stages,” said Dr. Ashutosh Kothari, Director of Breast Cancer, Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the hospital. “With its fast scanning and detailed 3D imaging, we can detect cancers more accurately while improving patient comfort during screening.”
Dr. Tarang Gianchandani, Group CEO – Healthcare Initiatives and CEO of the hospital, emphasized the importance of early detection. “Many women delay or skip screenings due to lack of awareness or access,” she said. “Our goal is to offer every woman timely, accurate, and compassionate care. The introduction of Genius AI 3D Mammography brings world-class technology to the forefront, helping us detect cancer early, start treatment sooner, and ultimately save lives.”
